Presidency speaks on Buhari sidelining Osinbajo in governance

The Presidency has dismissed claims that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had been sidelined following President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration of an Economic Advisory Team (EAC) to replace the Economic Management Team (EMT).

While the EMT was headed by Osinbajo, the newly constituted EAC will report directly to President Buhari.

Speaking as a guest on Channels TV’s Politics Today, on Wednesday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said all that the president had done particularly this week was just to “tweak governance and get the best for Nigerians”.

He also maintained that the presidency remains one and that there’s been too much suspicion and different kinds of inferences which he believes are only aimed at driving a wedge between both the President and the Vice President.

The nation's capital celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing in the most patriotic way possible: by projecting it onto the Washington Monument.

All week, images from the historic event were beamed onto the monument as part of a display commissioned by the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum and the U.S. Department of the Interior. From July 16 until July 18, a a full-sized, 363-foot Saturn V rocket was projected onto the monument's east face from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The show ramped up on Friday and Saturday, when a 17-minute show commemorating the moon landing was projected onto the monument. The Smithsonian said it used "full-motion projection-mapping artwork on the monument and archival footage to recreate the launch of Apollo 11 and tell the story of the first moon landing." https://abc7.la/2Z3kKdB

Though it may look out of date in 2019, the tiny, black-and-white television camera that beamed back live pictures of the moon's surface during the Apollo 11 landing in 1969 was revolutionary for its time.

In a 1969 report for ABC News, space correspondent Jules Bergman explained that Westinghouse custom-built the 7.25-ounce camera, one of two carried aboard Apollo 11, was custom-built for NASA. It was built to operate both in the vacuum of space and in the special atmosphere of the Apollo spacecraft. The imaging tube in the camera made it possible to produce pictures in the darkness of the lunar night, and it was built to withstand extreme temperatures.
